Description
A silky and aromatic Gevrey-Chambertin wine
The estate
Founded in 1797, Domaine Louis Latour is currently run by the family’s 11th generation and is headed by Louis-Fabrice Latour. As a wine merchant and grower, Louis Latour owns the largest estate of Grands Crus in Burgundy.
The vineyard
Going by the name Gevrey-en-Montagne until 1847, Gevrey-Chambertin is a village in the Côtes de Nuits located around ten kilometres away from Dijon. The vineyard is 30 years old on average and is planted on shallow brown-red clay-limestone soils, and produces a fine Gevrey-Chambertin wine.
Vinification and ageing
Once the grapes have been harvested by hand, a traditional fermentation process is carried out in open-top vats, along with a 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10 to 12 months in French oak barrels (20% of which are new oak) from the Louis Latour cooperage.
The blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
