Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Les Eguets 2025 from Jean-Michel Gérin
Tasting
Nose
The nose opens with an intense aromatic palette of apricot, peach and lychee, lifted by floral notes of rose. Smoky nuances, imparted by ageing in demi-muids, complete this bouquet typical of Viognier from Chavanay.
Palate
The palate is unctuous and generous, underpinned by a subtle minerality that brings tension to the whole. A discreet hint of bitterness on the finish gives the wine structure and extends into a remarkable length.
Food and Wine Pairings
This Condrieu is an ideal match for lightly creamy seafood dishes, such as a scallop risotto, or delicate fish such as John Dory. It also pairs very well with exotic, lightly spiced dishes, such as chicken curry.

The Estate
Founded in 1983 by Jean-Michel Gérin with the purchase of a plot in Côte-Rôtie, the estate is now run by his sons, Michaël and Alexis Gérin. Based in Ampuis, in the Rhône Valley, it extends over nearly 20 hectares spread across Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu and Saint-Joseph. The entire vineyard is farmed using certified organic methods, perpetuating a long-standing family tradition in the service of precision viticulture.
The Vineyard
The Les Eguets cuvée comes from a single 0.5-hectare plot, planted in 2010 on the lieu-dit Les Eguets, in the Condrieu appellation, in the commune of Chavanay. The organically farmed vines are planted at a density of 10,000 vines per hectare on granitic soils typical of the area.
Vinification and Ageing
For the production of the Les Eguets 2025 cuvée, the grapes are harvested by hand and then gently pressed in a pneumatic press. The wine is then aged for 12 months in demi-muids, with a limited proportion of new oak. Fermentations favour the use of indigenous yeasts, which occur naturally on the berries.
