Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru "Les Damodes" 2024 from Domaine Remoriquet
Tasting
Nose
The nose of the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru "Les Damodes" 2024 combines notes of red berries and black fruit with floral touches of peony and violet, complemented by a hint of sweet spice.
Palate
On the palate, the texture is silky, underpinned by pronounced freshness and noble, racy tannins. The dense, precise structure extends into a harmonious finish, promising a fine evolution over time.
Food and Wine Pairing
This premier cru is ideally suited to roasted or grilled red meats, such as leg of lamb or rib steak served with its juices, whose richness is elevated by the wine's tannic structure. It also pairs well with roast poultry accompanied by root vegetables or mushrooms, as well as with aged cheeses, whether pressed-curd or washed-rind, which find in its freshness and structure a perfect counterpoint.
Serving and Cellaring
The Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru "Les Damodes" 2024 is ideally served between 15 and 16 °C. A decanter may be used with care to aerate the wine in its youth. The estate recommends cellaring this cuvée for 8 to 15 years, meaning ideal drinking until around 2039.
A Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru "Les Damodes" Combining the Structure of the Côte de Nuits with the Finesse of Vosne-Romanée
The Estate
Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, Domaine Remoriquet traces its family history back to the late 19th century with Louis Remoriquet and his wife Hélène Lacour, the first female winegrower inducted into the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin. After four generations, the estate now extends over approximately 9 hectares, spread across Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée and the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. Led for more than three decades by the oenologist Gilles Remoriquet, the estate is now run by his cousin Patricia Guenot, who ensures its stylistic continuity in a spirit of sustainable viticulture, certified HVE and Terra Vitis.
The Vineyard
The Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru "Les Damodes" 2024 comes from a climat located in the northern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, high on the slope, in close proximity to Vosne-Romanée. The vines, approximately 60 years old, are planted in brown, finely gravelly limestone soils with a sandy tendency, resting on scree derived from white oolite fractured by frost, where limestone blocks known as "têtes de moutons" outcrop in places. The estate farms this vineyard using traditional, sustainable viticulture, with controlled yields, rational treatments and hand harvesting.
Winemaking and Ageing
The vinification of the Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er cru "Les Damodes" 2024 begins with a rigorous sorting of the grapes, followed by full or partial destemming depending on the characteristics of the vintage. A cold pre-fermentation maceration of 3 to 4 days precedes a long vatting period of 25 to 28 days, allowing a gradual and delicate extraction of colour, aromas and tannins. The wine is then aged for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, of which 20 to 25% are new, lending structure to the texture without masking the expression of the terroir. A light filtration over diatomaceous earth precedes bottling.
Grape Variety
This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir.
