Description
Characteristics and Tasting Tips for the Meursault Village “Les Narvaux” 2024 from Domaine Rémi Jobard
Tasting
Appearance
The colour is a pale yellow with greenish highlights, clear and brilliant in the glass, a sign of preserved freshness and an absence of evolved notes.
Nose
The nose opens with aromas of fresh fruit and citrus, supported by a fine minerality reminiscent of gunflint. Very discreet woody nuances, barely perceptible, complete the bouquet without ever dominating it, leaving pride of place to the fruit and the terroir.
Palate
On the palate, this Meursault is dense and elegantly slender, carried by fresh acidity and a precise texture. The structure is straight and vibrant, with a concentrated core that gradually refines into a distinctly saline finish, characteristic of the limestone terroirs found high on the slope.
Food and wine pairings
This wine is ideally suited to fine fish and shellfish, whether poached or prepared with a light butter sauce. It also pairs very well with white meats in a cream sauce, as well as with firm, cooked-curd cheeses such as Comté or Gruyère. Delicately prepared vegetable dishes, such as asparagus or artichokes, also make for beautiful harmonies with its freshness and minerality.
Serving and cellaring
This Meursault Village “Les Narvaux” 2024 is ideally served between 12 and 14°C. Decanting for about an hour before tasting is recommended to allow the wine to open up.
A Taut and Mineral Meursault Village, Driven by the Narvaux Limestone
The estate
The Domaine Rémi Jobard is based in Meursault, in Burgundy, in the heart of the Côte de Beaune. Renowned for its remarkably precise Meursault wines, the estate is farmed under certified organic agriculture, with particular attention paid to soil work and the health of the vineyard. The wines are produced using slow pressing, ageing in large vessels and bottling without filtration, in a constant pursuit of purity and transparency of terroir.
The vineyard
The Meursault “Les Narvaux” comes from a plot located at the top of the Meursault slope, just above the Premier Cru vineyards of Genevrières and Poruzots. The soils here are stony and steep, typical of the limestone terroirs found high on the slope. The vines, from relatively old plantings, are cultivated organically, with manual soil work and a approach aimed at naturally keeping yields low.
Vinification and ageing
The Meursault Village “Les Narvaux” 2024 benefits from slow, gentle pressing, designed to preserve the purity of the juice and avoid the extraction of bitter notes. Ageing takes place over an extended period in large foudres, allowing a measured supply of oxygen and a very discreet presence of oak. The wine then rests for a long time in the cellar before being bottled without filtration.
Grape variety
This wine is made from Chardonnay.
