Description
Characteristics and tasting tips for the Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes" 2023 from Domaine Nicole Lamarche
Tasting
Supremely elegant and remarkably delicious, this dry white offers a generous structure. The palate stands out for a texture that is both broad and energetic, underpinned by lovely minerality and a saline finish.
Food and wine pairing
The estate recommends serving this wine with a fillet of John Dory seared on one side, accompanied by a Beaufort and hazelnut crumble, calamansi oil and a tangy butternut squash mousseline. More generally, it will beautifully complement fine fish, shellfish, poultry in cream sauce and hard cooked-curd cheeses.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal enjoyment, this Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes" 2023 is best served at 12°C. Destined to evolve gracefully, this wine can be enjoyed until around 2043.

The estate
The history of the Lamarche family in Vosne-Romanée dates back to the late 18th century, but the wine estate itself was truly established in the early 20th century. Located in the heart of Burgundy, this estate of around 11 hectares is renowned for its monopole of the La Grande Rue grand cru. Today, Nicole Lamarche is at the helm of Domaine Nicole Lamarche. Since taking over the technical management, she has driven a profound qualitative transformation, steering the vineyard towards uncertified organic and biodynamic practices to reveal the authenticity of its terroirs.
The vineyard
The Chardonnay grapes used for this cuvée come from neighbouring estates in the renowned Les Charmes climat, south of the village of Meursault, in the Côte de Beaune. This terroir is characterised by well-drained soils made up of stony marls, fine Jurassic limestone and light clays, offering ideal conditions for the vines to flourish.
Vinification and ageing
Made from purchased grapes hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, this Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes" 2023 is fermented with indigenous yeasts. Ageing follows an approach rarely seen in the appellation, combining traditional Burgundian oak barrels with amphorae. This choice preserves the aromatic purity of the wine and brings lovely energy to its texture.
