Description
An aromatic and balanced micro-bottling from Margaux
The estate
Founded in 2001, Château Marojallia lies between the vineyards of Château Le Tertre and Château Mombrison, within the Margaux appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux. Advised by Muriel Andraud, creator of the first garage wines in Saint-Émilion with her husband, Jean-Luc Thunevin, Philippe Porcheron makes a fine wine which magnifies the exceptional potential of the Margaux appellation. Developed with rigour, passion and a perpetual quest for excellence, the wines of Château Marojallia are recognised by the greatest critics for their aromatic richness and quality.
The vineyard
Covering 5.83 hectares, the Château Marojallia vineyard is made up of vines aged by around 60 years, planted on deep gravel and sandy loams that are typical to the appellation.
The vintage
Winter and spring were marked by mild conditions. Warm September days, paired with cool night, were ideal conditions for reaching perfect maturity.
The winemaking and ageing
Manually harvested, the grapes are subject to vinification in conical, stainless steel vats. Vatting lasts for 30-38 days. Cold, pre-fermentation maceration lasts for 5 days at 6°C. Ageing is carried out exclusively in barrels (100% new, French barrels – 7 coopers).
Blend
The 2020 Château Marojallia is made of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) and Merlot (30%).
Tasting
The 2020 Château Marojallia seduces with its violet and deep fuchsia colours, its aromas of sour cherry, the delicate nature of its tannins and its perfect balance.
